About This Trail

The Lazy/EZ loop is probably the best intro to Moab mountain biking that you can find. It has a little bit of everything from slickrock to singletrack dirt.

Trail Description

The Brand Trails are a convenient trail system just a few minutes out of town on BLM land. These trails are between Highway 191 and the western border of Arches National Park. There are trails of all types here and no matter your experience or skill level, you can find something that you’ll enjoy riding.

Trailhead Info

The Brand Trails are accessed directly across the street from the Gemini Bridges Trail. Drive north out of Moab on Highway 191. When you cross the Colorado River, stay on 191 for 7 miles. The turnoff will be on the east side of the road. After turning onto the gravel road, make an immediate right and follow the road to the end where the large parking lot is. This is the main trailhead for all Brand Trails. There’s plenty of parking and a pit toilet at the trailhead.

Trail Info

This loop begins on the double track road heading east. Follow the road for 0.1 miles. You’ll take your first right for the Lazy EZ trail and follow the trail for another 0.1 miles. At this point the actual loop portion of the ride begins.

These trails are directional 1-way only trails so you must ride the loop counter-clockwise. Hang right and begin the loop on the EZ trail. Follow the EZ trail for about 1.5 miles at it makes its way up and over a small hill heading southward. Eventually you’ll connect up with the Bar M Loop trail. Hang a left here and follow the trail until you reach the beginning of the Lazy trail.

If you want to make a longer ride, you can connect up to the Deadman’s Ridge or Bar M Loop at this point. If you want to stick to the Lazy/EZ Loop, hang left on the Lazy trail and start making your way back north to where you came from. Make sure to take a moment and take in the views. You are just outside of Arches National Park on the east and the northern part of the Moab rim on west. It doesn’t get much better!

Once you connect back with the beginning of the loop, you can make your way back to the parking lot or take the loop for another lap.

NOTE: This area can get really crowded. Certain times of the year will find events here from the Outerbike event to High School MTB races. This area is also fairly exposed and can get very hot in the summer so plan accordingly.
