Faux Falls is a man-made waterfall that feeds Ken’s Lake just below. The water is diverted from Mill Creek through a diversion tunnel through the sandstone. This place is magical at sunset when the rocks glow red with the waterfall mixed in.

Trailhead Info

The trailhead is just east of Ken’s Lake. To get there head south from the center of town on Highway 191. The turn off is between mile markers 117 and 118 and is signed “Ken’s Lake”. Turn east on this road and follow it to the end where it tees with Spanish Valley Road. Turn right (south) and follow it for about a half mile to a fork. Take the left (east) fork and follow the road for another 0.8 miles. Turn left (east) on the “Ken’s Lake Road” and follow it for 0.5 miles. Left will take you to Ken’s Lake. Stay straight and the pavement will end. Follow the dirt road for 0.1 miles. There will be a small road on the left. For 2WD cars, you may want to park here and continue on by foot. For 4WD with high clearance, continue up the rough road to a roundabout which is the trailhead.

Trail Info

From the roundabout parking lot, you can already see and hear the falls. Head east down to the first wash/gully. You can go left to a swimming hole and the bottom of the falls. Or you can stay straight on the trail and climb the sandstone bench to the head of the falls. Take some time to explore the area and enjoy your time here. Be careful around the falls and don’t try crossing the stream where you could get swept over the falls.
