Longest arch in the world, check. Classic fins and sandstone, check. Eight arches plus a desert spire, check. Devils Garden just can’t be beat and the popularity of this trail proves it. This trail system is also very close to the Arches campground.

Trailhead Info

Arches National Park is located roughly 5 miles north of Moab on Highway 128. The trailhead is located at the very end of the Arches National Park main road. To get here, follow the park road 18 miles to the large loop. There's a lot of parking here but expect it to be crowded and expect to hunt for a parking spot unless you are early.

Trail Info

The hike begins on the west side of the loop. You immediately enter towering sandstone fins. The trail is wide and well used here. After about 0.2 miles, you’ll encounter a spur trail on your right that goes to Tunnel and Pine Tree Arches. The main trail continues to the left or straight. After another 0.5 miles, you’ll encounter another fork in the trail. To the right is the primitive loop trail. Left is the main trail. At this point, Landscape Arch is also in view. Take in the sight as you continue along the main trail. Another 0.3 miles will be another spur trail on your left that goes to Partition and Navajo Arch. Follow the main trail another 0.8 miles to Double O Arch. At this point the trail that heads to the right is the beginning of the primitive loop trail. The left spur heads out to Dark Angel. If you decide to come back on the primitive loop, the trail is less defined and sandy. You will have to pay more attention to route finding but the effort is worth it. Make sure you carry enough water and snacks. This area gets really hot in the summer and has a lot of exposure. Spring and Fall are generally the best time of year to explore this area.
